Job Description

As a Project Manager, you will have a broad and flexible toolkit of project management techniques, ability to translate complex, interdependent activities into tasks that can be well documented, monitored and managed, capacity to shift easily between the “big picture” and small-but-crucial details work under pressure and have to be comfortable with change and complexity in a dynamic international environment.

You will

  • Manage projects within time, budget, and quality constraints, following project plans and donor contracts. Cost effective and efficient
  • Manage the project teams operationally. Monitors the deliverables of the various team members. Assign tasks, give instructions and involve relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and manages project budgets and forecasts. Handle and monitor financial transactions in close coordination with the Finance department
  • Support in staffing and financial resourcing of projects, both in terms of quality and quantity
  • Provide timely and high-quality reporting to management and donors. Pro-actively mitigate risks and change requests in order to be administratively compliant
  • Develop new project plans with Programme Directors and project team members. Coordinate the development of these plans with relevant project team members, the Business Development and Finance departments and the donor/client
  • Manage contracts with external stakeholders, ensures procurement policy is adhered to and contracts are in line with applicable legislation
  • Work closely with the Programme Director on building capacity of project teams in country to deliver programmes, including registration of local offices
  • Work closely with the others Project Managers and shares knowledge to nurture project management expertise in the organization. Ensure synergy between different departments and projects, to foster collaboration where possible.

You have

  • At least 6 years’ experience working as a Project Manager in teams with international professionals and preferably in the development sector
  • A Bachelor / Master degree in a relevant field (e.g. law, politics, international relations, international development studies, economics, conflict studies)
  • Experience with industry standard project management methodologies, tools and software. Project Management Certification is an asset
  • Experience in drafting budgets and forecasts, using spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets). Strong analytical skills
  • A good understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive and hands-on
  • A problem solving mindset and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience working with (European-based) donors
  • The ability to communicate with people from all levels and strong writing skills
  • Strong personal leadership as well as a high level of ethics and integrity. You inspire and motivate project team members
  • Fluency in English and French, both oral and written (B2-C1)
